1.20.09

At the suggestion of a like-minded friend (we are both media enthusiasts-but sit on "opposite sides of the aisle") I am going to try to live blog today.

Today is really just like any other inauguration day. We as a nation have elected a man to run our country and on January 20 he will take his place as the leader of the free world. It was like this eight years ago, in 1793, and 1969. Would this same kind of exposure and excitement have happened if an African-American republican or woman had been elected?

All the talk of hope and change. These are not new words nor new concepts. We should always anticipate hope and change with a new president. How President elect Obama choose to approach these changes should be new and different.

My hope for today is that those who voted for Obama are willing to accept that he will make errors and any change will take time to be successful and those who didn't vote for him are willing to accept a different point of view. We must remember that it was not a landslide that voted Obama into office but 53% to 46% of the vote.
